Twenty-six adults and two children, all newcomers to the Mansion, enjoyed the Queen’s Birthday Tea celebration at Cottonwood Mansion on May 20th. Her Majesty, Queen Victoria (aka Terry Esselment) received guests who then participated in the launching of afternoon teas at the Mansion, every summer Saturday afternoon, from noon to 3 p.m., except for July 27th, when the Second Annual Pig Roast will take place at Cottonwood Mansion. The teas continue through Labour Day weekend. Guests also enjoyed the opening of a display of Royalist artifacts from Edward VII through Queen Elizabeth II which will continue through Doors Open Haldimand County, September 21st. One birthday guest, all of whom were presented to Her Majesty enjoyed her interest in contemporary fashion in particular. He reported that the Queen planned to report the customs of the painting of toe nails in bright colours and the wearing of dress pants by women as she experienced during the reception to “…my grandchildren, although they probably know about these customs already.”Queen’s Birthday Tea
