    Introducing: The Peter Banting SWINGTET
The small band with the Big Sound

This small seven piece orchestra was formed in Ancaster in 1999. The group's instrumentation includes: guitar, bass, drums, trumpet, alto and tenor saxophones, and trombone. Its members are all experienced professional musicians, who have performed in a variety of musical settings, including pit bands for musicals, marching bands, dance bands, concert bands and symphony orchestras.

They got together for the pure joy of playing. Soon the SWINGTET was in demand, playing at weddings, fairs and street festivals, at cocktail parties, receptions and garden parties, providing dinner music, entertaining at dances and formal balls, and at commercial functions such as store anniversaries, sales meetings, grand openings, customer appreciation days, and employee recognition events.

Engagements in the Cottonwood region have included the Caledonia Fair, the All Over Dover Music Festival, 447 RCAF Wing Club, Ancaster Fieldcote Soiree, and Selkirk Lions Club Big Band Dances.

The Peter Banting SWINGTET has entertained at Hamilton's Royal Botanical Gardens, the Hamilton Bayfront Park, the Dundas Driving Park, Burlington Central Park, the Hamilton Mustard Festival, Hamilton's Gage Park, the Locke Street Festival, and at Toronto's Roy Thomson Hall. They also enjoy entertaining at Golden Horseshoe retirement and nursing homes.

The SWINGTET plays the happy, buoyant and melodic popular "standard" tunes of the mid-twentieth century, the big band music that was so captivating during and after the Second World War, and the ever-popular Broadway Show melodies. Their music is bouncy and lyrical -- the stuff you can hum, sing or whistle, such as "C'est Si Bon," and "Fly Me to the Moon." Their music is infectious. There's lots of variety ranging through waltzes, latin tunes, dixieland, polkas and novelty numbers.
